QuickBooks Online error 103: check the bank sign-in path first
Use a short, evidence-based sign-in check for QuickBooks Online bank error 103 before changing connections or disturbing transaction history.

Applies to: QuickBooks Online Canada, browser edition; bank connection error 103. Not QuickBooks Desktop or a confirmed bank outage.
When a bank feed stops connecting, the first job is to establish which sign-in path is failing. Avoid turning a connection problem into an accounting cleanup by making several account changes at once.
This guide concerns QuickBooks Online Canada in a web browser. Intuit explains that error 103 commonly concerns sign-in information the bank does not accept. Its checks include verifying access on the bank’s own site, choosing the correct bank connection and reviewing any institution-specific permission for third-party access. Intuit’s current error 103 instructions.
Make a small observation record
Record the date, exact error, selected financial institution and whether the failure affects one or several accounts. Include the product region and the last date transactions downloaded successfully. Do not put passwords, account numbers or authentication codes in this note.
Open the bank through its trusted website and check whether normal sign-in works. If it does not, resolve that access issue with the bank first. If it does, record that result and review any relevant access prompts the bank presents. A successful website login is useful evidence; it is not proof that a separate feed connection is healthy.
Check that the connection matches the account
Compare the institution selected in QuickBooks with the bank’s official sign-in address and account type. Similar names can conceal different services. Use the linked Intuit instructions for the current navigation and applicable bank guidance. Do not weaken authentication or share credentials with someone offering an unofficial fix.
For example, suppose the bank website opens normally, while only one QuickBooks connection reports 103. Your support note can say exactly that, list the selected institution and include the time of the last successful download. It should not say the bank is experiencing a general outage without evidence.
Keep the accounting records stable during diagnosis
- Assign one person to coordinate troubleshooting.
- Record each supported change and its result before trying another.
- Avoid importing the same date range manually while a download may still resume.
- If manual entry is necessary, track those items for later duplicate review.
- Escalate a persistent failure through official support with the observation record.
Our cloud accounting and bookkeeping services describe the record-management work around connected systems. Vendor account-access issues still need the relevant bank or Intuit support channel.

Does this mean my company file is damaged?

Can I apply QuickBooks Desktop network instructions?
This article is scoped to QuickBooks Online Canada. Desktop hosting errors are a different workflow.
What should I send to support?
Share the code, product region, bank connection name, timing and steps already tried. Redact screenshots and never include passwords or one-time codes.

Can I use a Desktop error guide for QuickBooks Online?
Only when the guide explicitly covers that product. First identify whether you use Desktop or Online and record the exact message.
Does a connection error prove a company file is damaged?
An error message alone is not enough to establish file damage. Identify the affected task and follow the relevant vendor diagnostic guidance.
Who should change a shared hosting setup?
The person responsible for the server or hosting provider should review changes affecting other users. Record the current setup before making approved changes.
